And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ
|
| There are many gifts God has given to each one of us. The elders lead the congregation, and the deacons serve the congregation through various ministries. There are still other roles to be filled. Ministers commit themselves to preaching the Good News to the congregation and to evangelizing those outside of the congregation. Our "Forever Family" has three ministers actively involved in encouraging and building up both our family and our community. However, they cannot do it alone. There are many day to day tasks needing to be done just around the office alone. Tuscumbia has two wonderful secretaries to assist our ministers in these tasks. We cannot forget those who work in the background and dedicate their time to maintaining the building in which we worship. Their efforts are greatly appreciated! |
Jeff, Judy, Jennah, Josh, & Jordan Abrams
|
Pulpit Minister
My name is Jeff Abrams. I have been privileged to serve as the pulpit minister for the Tuscumbia "forever family" since the Fall of 2006. My wife Judy and I met at Freed-Hardeman University and have been married since 1985. Judy is a kindergarten teacher who enjoys a life filled with serving others. We are blessed to be the parents of three wonderful "preacher's kids." Jordan, born in 1990, Joshua, born in 1992, and Jennah, born in 1998, fill our lives with lots of smiles. I enjoy preaching and believe myself to have "the best job in the world." I also enjoy the opportunities God has given me to do mission work in Ukraine, since 1993. If you are looking for a church home, the Tuscumbia Church of Christ may be just the place for you. I know it has been a terrific place for my family to grow closer to God and each other. |
Eli & Jordan Harper
|
Youth and Family Minister
My name is Eli Harper. I was born and raised in Florence, Alabama. I grew up at the Wood Avenue Church of Christ where I was baptized at age thirteen by Kenneth Davis. I am a 1999 graduate of Brooks High School, located in Killen, Alabama. I attended the University of North Alabama where I marched in the drum line for the “Pride of Dixie”, and later I attended Heritage Christian University. I began working with Tuscumbia in March of 2005. Some of my hobbies include trying to play golf, hanging out with the youth, singing, and spending time with my wife. I am happily married to one of Tuscumbia’s very own, the former Jordan Walker. We both met after I began my ministry here with the "Forever Family" where she has been a member since birth. We love the fact that we can call Tuscumbia home. Jordan is a 2004 graduate of Colbert Heights High School. She graduated from Wallace State in 2007 with an Associates of Applied Science. She is currently an LPTA at Helen Keller Hospital and a tremendous worker in the church. I try to bring to the youth ministry a strong desire to serve God. I also feel that I am solid in the word and have a heart to serve others. I am very energetic and excited about serving the Lord and working with the amazing young people and families here at Tuscumbia. I fully believe that the young are not the church leaders of the future, but that they are the leaders of today. |
Nancy & Gary Brewer

My name is Nancy Brewer. I have been working as Church Secretary since September 1999. I became a member of Christ's church on February 17, 1991. Gary and I have been married since November 23, 1968, and have lived in Tuscumbia all our married life. Gary are I are blessed with Christy, our daughter, and her husband, Tim. We also have a granddaughter, Kayla, who has added daily to our blessings. My entire life's mission has been to make sure our older members and friends are not forgotten. |
Romie Burton
|
Secretary
My name is Romie Burton. I grew up in Eldridge, Alabama. After I graduated from high school at Carbon Hill in 1949, I attended Freed-Hardeman College from 1949 to 1950. In the fall of 1951, I moved to Tuscumbia, Alabama where I fell in love with the city’s most eligible bachelor, Tom Burton, whom I married in 1952. Tom passed away on February 13, 2009. We will miss him dearly. We have four wonderful children. Their names are Tom, Charlie, Kathryn, and Philip. We are also blessed with eight lovely grandchildren and one gorgeous great-granddaughter. I have worked as a legal secretary for many years. I spent the first part of my career in the office of Mars Hill Bible School, and have dedicated my life to being the church secretary here at Tuscumbia since 1973. |
