When one sees the symbol of H2O what normally comes to mind? The answer is water.
Water was scarce in Jesus' day, yet water was as much a necessity for life then as it is today. Just as the physical body needs regular water to continue living, so does the spirit. Jesus is the water needed by the spiritual part of man. Without Him the soul will eventually die. The soul is thirsty and we try to quench that thirst with many things that satisfy for awhile, but eventually we get thirsty again. The only thing that can truly quench the thirst of the spirit is the Living Water, Jesus Christ.
He is the water that brings life to the soul. Jesus is the only thing that can quench the thirst of the spirit. Anything or anyone else will only dry up and leave the spirit thirsty again. By drinking the Living Water one can live and never thirst again. Jesus is what our spirit needs in order for us to be able to live eternally with Him. Without the Living Water our spiritual body dies just as our physical body would if we didn't drink any water.
The college and young adults at Tuscumbia quench their spiritual thirst with Jesus, the Living Water, by looking to Him each day. We also share the Living Water with others by showing how Jesus can quench their own spiritual thirst in their lives.
From now on when you see H2O don't reflect upon its physical application, but rather the spiritual connotations that lie within. By drinking the Living Water we are.Here 2 Overcome!
The Tuscumbia Church of Christ H2O Ministry exists to create a community of single college age and young adults who are eager to engage this exciting world around us, but somehow remain faithful to the distinctive way of living the Jesus life. As Christians, we are dedicated to living that life together even with our differences. Here you'll find those who pour themselves into a full-time college schedule, a newly married lifestyle, work around the clock, or possibly do all of the above. Jesus Christ, the living water, is flowing abundantly for you!
Below are just a few activities available for our college age:
| College Night |
The first Sunday night in January is dedicated to this event. Around 200 high school juniors, seniors, and college age students from the area gather together for a night of worship. There will be a guest speaker that will share for us his thoughts on "How to Live a Christian Life in a College World."
Following worship our guests make their way over to our church annex for some great fun, delicious food, and awesome fellowship! During this time students can gather information from potential universities (Alabama, Northwest-Shoals, University of North Alabama, Faulkner, Freed-Hardeman, Harding, and Heritage Christian) and listen to our special guest entertainment. This is an annual event. |
| IronSights Ministry | Every third Monday night of the quarter (February, May, August, November) our college age and young adults gather at the church annex at 6:30 PM for a wonderful meal. Following the meal they join in an open discussion devotional. |
