	Elders... Churches among Churches of Christ are each governed autonomously by a body of elders. These elders are the leaders of that individual congregation. Qualifications for an elder are found in the Word of God, 1 Timothty 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. These passages are used as the standard to nominate and elect the elders. Tuscumbia has truly been blessed with very talented and capable men. These men have done a great job guiding and leading our "Forever Family". 	Deacons... In the first century A.D., the Apostles selected men to help serve the congregations in Jerusalem. They appointed six men. The primary duty of these men was to serve the widows of the congregations. One of them even, Stephen, was later known to have done signs and wonders among those he ministered to. This eventually led to him being stoned. Today, deacons serve more than just the widows. They are actively serving in many areas of the Church. At Tuscumbia, the deacons of our "Forever Family" assist with seeing to various needs of the congregation. Among these needs are: Benevolence, Bible Study, Personal Evangelism, and Worship. They help the elders work with the various Ministry Committees...more
	Ministry Staff... There are many gifts God has given to each one of us. The elders lead the congregation, and the deacons serve the congregation through various ministries. There are still other roles to be filled. Ministers commit themselves to preaching the Good News to the congregation and to evangelizing those outside of the congregation. Our "Forever Family" has three ministers actively involved in encouraging and building up both our family and our community. However, they cannot do it alone. There are many day to day tasks needing to be done just around the office alone. Tuscumbia has two wonderful secretaries to assist our ministers in these tasks. We cannot forget those who work in the background and dedicate their time to maintaining the building in which we worship. Their efforts are greatly appreciated!...more
