BENEVOLENCE Elder: Jack Stephenson Chairman: Charles DeVaney |
|
Direct the congregation's benevolent work, keeping in mind our prime mission of spreading the Gospel. This committee is to make the congregation aware of and organize our response to special needs, fires and other disasters, and sicknesses requiring our physical and/or financial assistance. Make periodic reports on how regular benevolent funds are expended. Make recommendations to the elders for works with costs exceeding regularly budgeted amounts. Our benevolent work now is carried out under several divisions of work. Our regular local work is carried out under as needs arise and are presented to the church, and is a separate budgeted line item within the benevolent budget. We operate a food distrubution to a limited clientele with mostly surplus food received from the government. We make direct responses to needs caused by disasters and also make contributions to the Churches of Christ Relief Fund. We are always ready to respond to the needs of our members as their needs are made known to us. |
